ED 203: Authentic Learning Through Place-Based Education

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively create place-based curriculum blending local culture and knowledge, a variety of community resources such as local or regional experts and the surrounding environment. Course participants investigate design principals of place-based education and utilize Alaska state content and cultural standards throughout curriculum planning. 15 hours of field experience is required (background checks may also be required).
